I needed a new 29r after selling the Epic Expert and these arrived at just the right time for springtime riding. Obviously as a bike shop guy I'm not going to ride it stock, so a few upgrades were the go.
Jump past the break to see pics and details..
The Crankbros Cobalt 3 wheelset is tubeless ready and weighs in at 1780g. The red highlights made the choice a bit easier as well. Traction duties are handled by Specialized Captain (front) and Renegade (rear) Control 2Bliss tyres, great for the 'pea gravel' and pretty light. They are running tubeless with FRM sealant.
The Vertex 950 comes with SRAM X9 which is fine, but when you absolutely, positively have to change gear perfectly everytime except no substitute, Shimano Deore XT (2x10)
I've had these bars for years but the Salsa Pro Moto carbon flat bars are the best. They have a little extra back sweep that make them less aggressive than a traditional flat bar, a nice balance I think.
The new eggbeaters are awesome.....That is all.
It's the little details that make a good bike great. Formula RX brakes with 180mm rotors for stopping power.
