Custom wheel building now available at Liberty Bikes

With the addition of bike mechanic Ben Roberts to the team, we are excited to be able to offer wheel building to our customers. Be it for road, mountainbike, track, Polo, BMX or commuter we are able to hand build a set of wheels to your desired specifications be it race, bomb proof or just bling factor.

We source rims from top brands such as Sun Rims, DT Swiss, Stans No Tubes, Salsa, Velocity, eclat, Colony and Odyssey. Spokes from DT Swiss, Sapim and eclat. Hubs from Velocity, Shimano, Profile Designs, Hope, Chris King, DT Swiss, Ringle and Sadio, just to name a few.

Also we hare happy to try and source any brand that you desire for any of the components.Your imagination is the only limit. We don't mind if you source the parts yourself either.

The process costs $70 per wheel and includes a consultation process where your requirements are matched up to possible solutions. Then the work really gets going once all the components are sourced (if we don't already have them in stock) and Ben hand builds each wheel. This price also includes a discount on a spoke retension after 2 weeks of $10.00 (usually costs $25.00 down to $15.00)

Bike Build: Salsa El Mariachi Steel

What do you do when you have a box full of 29r parts and need a bike to race this season? Oh and the buget is limited. Buy a steel frame! To future proof this bike a little I decided that there were 2 features the new frame had to have. First of all it needed to accept a tapered fork steerer (because that's what I have waiting for the frame). Secondly, it had to be single speed compatible to serve a different purpose in the future.

After a little research I settled on a 15" Salsa El Mariachi frame with an FSA headset with 44mm bottom cup for the fork steerer.
