What do you do when you have a box full of 29r parts and need a bike to race this season? Oh and the buget is limited. Buy a steel frame! To future proof this bike a little I decided that there were 2 features the new frame had to have. First of all it needed to accept a tapered fork steerer (because that's what I have waiting for the frame). Secondly, it had to be single speed compatible to serve a different purpose in the future.
After a little research I settled on a 15" Salsa El Mariachi frame with an FSA headset with 44mm bottom cup for the fork steerer.

A change is as good as a holiday...
Sometimes a change in store layout is just what you need to freshen things up a little bit. The first thing you will notice on entering the the increase in natural light we've achieved by moving the 2 tier bike rack away from the front window.

Bike Build: Cinelli Mash Histogram
We wanted to show off a little, that's basically all there is to it. The brief was to build a hot fixie, no budget, no restrictions at all (ok so some fashion restrictions). Here's what we came up with...

RMB and Delta BA
Rocky Mountain Bicycles and Liberty Bikes are proud to be able to support Delta BA Racing for the 2012 MTB race season with the Vertex 990RSL carbon hardtail 29er. The boys have already been racking up the results with wins for Dave Nairn in A grade of the last two 'Dirt Crits' held by Perth MTB Club. We wish the whole team every success this year.
The Vertex 990RSL is the top of the tree for Rocky Mountain in 2012, having dropped 26" hardtails from their race range altogether! A recent review in Australian Mountainbike Magazine saw the Vertex 990RSL score 9.1 out of a possible 10 with the following comments: "Lightning fast, yet tough and stable. Fantastic build quality and looks. Outstanding handling." and "Sure, we’ll give the Vertex back… one day…but they’ll have to catch us first!" Source: AMB FEB/MAR Issue 2012

Bike Build: Rhianna's Specialized Crux Cyclocross
We were lucky enough to get the opportunity to build a cyclocross bike up for Rhianna this month (hopefully her work roster will have her in Perth for the CycloCross State Champs in March) and boy was it a steep learning curve for us. The Specialized Crux showed up looking incandecent with its blue/yellow/red paint job.
We got a near perfect colour match with the Salsa cork tape and the rather bright colours on the Specialized Crux frame. SRAM Force Shift/Brake levers are taking care of business up on the bars.
Click through after the break to see more pics and get a rundown on the details.

Available late January 2012 - Tarmac w/ Ultegra Di2
We will at long last be getting our first look at Shimano's new Ultegra Di2 electronic groupset in the second half of January, on the Specialized Tarmac SL4 frame. Specialized are offering Ultegra Di2 on the SL4 framesets in the Tarmac and Venge models and on the Roubaix SL3 framesets. Make no mistake, Ultegra Di2 is every bit as performance focused as its Dura Ace big brother. Matching it to Speciaized's performance framesets will allow riders to get the most out of the electronic experience.
Pricing for the Tarmac and Roubaix is $6499.00 and the Venge is $6999.00
We will put up a post when the bike arrives in the showroom sometime in the next fortnight so keep an eye out.

Specialized Kids Bikes, just in time for Christmas
Yesterday we received a pallet load of Specialized kid's bikes. We now have in stock the full range from 12 inch through to 24 inch 21-speeds, boys and girls. This is however, pretty much the last delivery of kids bikes we will get before Christmas Eve so don't leave it too late or you might miss out!
